Hobsons Bay Yacht Club Boating Academy offers a range of Sailing Courses for a variety of ages and any experience level.
HBYC Boating Academy is an Accredited Discover Sailing Centre, conveniently located close to Melbourne, providing a fun and safe learning environment with friendly qualified instructors.
$350 per person for all 12-hour Australian Sailing Courses.

Hobsons Bay Yacht Club offers Junior training in the form of the Australian Sailing Out There Program, running Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 1:00pm over the summer holidays.

We offer a large range of courses to suit any skill level from, Start Crewing for those looking for a place to start to, Start Racing for those who want to better develop their skills.

Discover Sailing Experiences are a great introduction to sailing in a fun three-hour sail with a partner, group of friends, work colleagues, family, or as a way to try a new hobby and meet people.
We are also offering flexible "Refresher courses" to those who want some time on the water with a qualified instructor, but do not need to take a full course.

HBYC also offers courses on high powered motorboats to provide you with the skills to operate in confined spaces, and in in different wind and wave conditions.
Most clubs now require all those operating club boats to complete this training.

HBYC is now offering marine Radio Operator Courses. You can learn how to operate VHF or HF for both coastal waters and offshore crewing and ocean racing.

This is a 4-hour onsite practical training session with a heavy emphasis on CPR.
There is an online component which covers the knowledge and theory of First Aid, this is completed prior to training day and takes between 1 – 1 ½ hours to complete.

The Club hosts a yearly seminar to help ensure that club members are ready to act if they are ever involved in incident where someone ends up overboard.

It is possible to learn without sailing lessons, but professional instruction and a structured course make it much easier and more enjoyable.

Yes, if none of the listed dates suit you, there are two options. HBYC Boating Academy may be able to schedule an addition course at the standard price for groups of 3 or 4.
