PRIVATEER | OFFSHORE VESSEL

1989 H&B Hobsons 9m Solocraft

1989 H&B Hobsons 9m Solocraft

“Privateer” is a fast and robust offshore vessel (20 knots service speed, 30 knots top speed),constructed for speed and durability. It was first commissioned as a commercial cray boat, demonstrating its capacity for demanding marine operations.  During its commercial life, the vessel was in 2C survey, including fishing charters (6 passengers plus 2 crew). This vessel could be refitted and returned to commercial/charter use. In 2008, “Privateer” was acquired by a Port Phillip Bay yacht club as the primary start boat and rescue vessel for keel boat races. Its design, including spacious and versatile working deck areas made it exceptionally well suited to this role.

The vessel has been well maintained throughout the current ownership. Recent service records for the engine are available and highlight significant upgrades, including the installation of a new turbo in 2025.  While the engine starts and runs, a full rebuild is required to bring it up to serviceability. Current Engine 1992 6cylinder Volvo 230Hp Penta Inboard Diesel. In all other respects, the mechanical systems on the vessel are in serviceable condition, including stern drive.
