Hobsons Bay Yacht Club (HBYC) operates under a clear set of rules that guide how the Club is run and how decisions are made.
These rules are set out in the following three key documents:
The Constitution is the Club's main governing document and provides the legal framework under Consumer Affairs Victoria. It outlines how the Club is structured and managed.
The By-laws, made and updated by the General Committee, support the Constitution by setting out practical rules that help the Club operate smoothly and fairly for all members.
The Operational Policies provide guidance for the day-to-day decision-making and apply to the General Committee, Officers, Staff, Members and Volunteers. These policies are approved by the General Committee and are referenced in the By-laws.
All three documents work together and form the Rules of the Club. Members are encouraged to read them together to understand how HBYC is governed and operates.
