ALISTER EDWARDS MEMORIAL BRASS MONKEY SERIES

Named by a former Commodore of the Club, the Brass Monkey Series is a very popular race series, held in winter - hence the name!  The series attracts yachts from HBYC, RYCV and RMYS with Pursuit, One Design and Fleet racing available and is the largest winter race fleet on Port Phillip.

The series has been running since 1975, initially as a pursuit series. Division A (Spinnaker) and Division B (Non spinnaker) in a short course format. 

In 2014 a Long course was also introduced together with Class courses for the S80’s and Diamonds making for 5 divisions. In 2015 the short course Div A and Div B were combined with a 4 minute penalty being added at the start for those that nominated to race with a spinnaker.

To date two trophies have been associated with the series. The original (shown on the left) from 1975-1985-86, and its successor- 1987 to current.
