About Women in Sailing @ Hobbo's...
In 2012 Yachting Victoria conducted some research into what both women and girl sailors and women and girl non sailors thought of sailing. Please find below the summary, full report and appendix of both sailors and non sailors.
In 2012, Maureen Dickins sent out an email about Women in Sailing training to be held at HBYC and 27 women responded. Maureen has since been the driving force to get this, and other fantastic initiatives up and running.
The members in the women in sailing program have been generously supported by HBYC including the Flag Officers, General Committee, Office Staff, Race Administrator, Sailing Committe and other club members who act as mentors in the practical sessions.
Before we had Satie (S80) & Rocket Science (Endevour) as club boats, the owners of the S80 fleet at HBYC generously lent their boats and time, imparted knowledge and taken women from the training sessions out racing.
There is a variety of womens racing held on Port Phillip Bay and within HBYC, go to our Lady Skippers Races page for more information.
